Sanjay Dutt’s Diary

Sanjay Dutt - The host

Q) After all the speculation about your venturing into television, you finally chose Bigg Boss 5. How come?
A – Yes I’m co-hosting Bigg Boss. It was a very interesting offer and if I’m going to be working with Salman, it’s a bonus! Bigg Boss is undoubtedly one of the most popular shows on television and I feel excited to be part of it.

Q) Are you looking forward to co-hosting the show with Salman Khan?
A – I think it’s a very well-known fact that Salman is one of my closest friends in the industry. He’s a great guy! We haven’t had a chance to work together in many movies, but whenever we have, it’s been memorable even for the audiences. I’m totally looking forward to co-hosting Bigg Boss with him.

Q) Have you followed the previous seasons of Bigg Boss?
A – My busy work schedule doesn’t allow me to follow all the shows that come on TV very religiously. But whenever I’ve had time, I’ve tried to keep myself updated with what’s on TV. I’ve seen some episodes of Bigg Boss over the years, but have been unable to follow it from start to finish.

Q) What can the contestants and viewers expect from you as host on Bigg Boss?
A – The contestants are not going to like me. Salman and I are going to be responsible in taking their case completely – when we are around its going to be time for some Double Vaat! But the viewers are going to love us. We’re going to be the cause of pain and joy at the same time. I’m already excited about all the crazy stuff that we have planned for the contestants. Contestants will see me being rude, being nice, being indifferent – everything. Viewers will get to see behind the scene tidbits as well that’ll keep them glued to their seats in anticipation of what happens next.

Q) Who would you to like to see locked up in the Bigg Boss House?
A – I’m not going to take any names on who should be locked in the house. I don’t think it’s my place to say that. But it’d definitely be interesting to see some Bollywood actors locked up in the house. We’re always traveling around for work. How would we react to being locked up in one house for 100 days? That’s a tough one! Nothing can ever prepare us for that.

Q) Do you think you could be a contestant on Bigg Boss?
A – No way! Actors are always on the move. I don’t remember when was the last time I spent 100 days at a stretch in my own house – living locked up in Bigg Boss house is completely out of question.

Q) Are we going to see Sanjay Dutt’s friends being a part of the show?
A – Maybe, I don’t know. Nothing’s decided yet. It’s my first time hosting a show on television. I’d love to have my friends be a part of the show and visit me on the sets, but it’s the production house’s prerogative. I’ll suggest and help, but I can’t confirm.

Q) Bigg Boss is known to create controversies and so much has been said about your personal life that you’re almost Controversy’s Child. Do you see a theme here?
A – This may be your view or the audience’s view. But personally, I tend to stay away from controversies. All that you see on TV or read in newspapers is normally an exaggerated point of view that has been created by miscreants or the media. As far as the show is concerned, controversies are what keep everyone going. You’ve gotten the theme wrong – it’s not controversial lives, its ability to create controversy. After all, Double Vaat is on its way!

Q) Much was said about your fight with Salman at your party. Your comments?
A – Arre yeh Double Vaat ka kaam hamein diya gaya hai… aap humari Vaat kyon laga rahein hain! Dekhiye Bigg Boss 5… aur khush rahiye!
