Yamamotoyama is the heaviest Japanese sumo wrestler ever as well as the heaviest man in Japan. His sumo career began at the age of 7 while in school, and as most join after they graduate middle school at the age of 13-14, Yamamotoyama continued on his education, receiving a degree in Economics from Japan’s most prestigious sumo wrestling university.  It wasn’t until his fourth year at school that he decided he was going to join pro, and with his prior university championships, Yamamotoyama was bumped up to the middle of the sumo wrestling rank chart. Normally it would have taken 5-6 years to reach that far if he had begun at the bottom, giving him the second highest speed in reaching the top of the pro sumo rank chart.
